Bhavik Patel, MD, MBA
Dr. Bhavik Patel is currently Director of Body CT in the Division of Abdominal Imaging at Stanford University. He carried out his undergraduate training at the University of Alabama followed by medical training at UAB School of Medicine. He completed a surgery internship at Harvard’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital before returning to UAB to complete his residency in Diagnostic Radiology where he also served as a Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Stanford University prior to joining Duke. As a junior faculty, Dr. Patel invested in further education by pursuing a Masters of Business Administration from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Dr. Patel’s research interest focus on imaging of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and dual energy CT applications in abdominal imaging. Additionally, he has a strong interest in the economics of health care, ranging from value based care under APMs, new valuation models, and organizational change. He has and currently works on projects related to these areas of interests. He has presented on these topics at major national meetings, including RSNA, SAR, and SCBT-MR as well as published these topics in peer-reviewed journals. He currently serves on multiple administrative committees within his department and at the health system level.
