Radiology Expert Spotlight: William P. Shuman, MD
The time has come again for us to spotlight one of our most well-recognized faculty members and this week we introduce you to William P. Shuman, MD. Serving as one of the International Society for Computed Tomography Board Members, Dr. Shuman brings much more to the table than just his expertise in computed tomography. His leadership in the radiology industry speaks for itself when you read his long list of accolades and see how well-respected he is in the industry. His active Twitter account regularly shares valuable learning material about the CT niche and his expansive following showcases how valuable he is to our industry community.
Innovation in Radiology Education with Elliot Fishman, MD
Back in 2013, Dr. Elliot Fishman led an insightful talk on missed diagnosis in HU imaging and how to avoid them. This 10-minute talk “Pitfalls in the Diagnosis of Renal Tumors: Did I miss That?” has remained one of our most watched talk years later. The video resides in our CME OnDemand section of the ISCT website, in case you haven’t seen it yet, but this year we are excited to see what new material Dr. Fishman will be presenting.
New Elements of the 2016 CT Symposium Program
This year, the ISCT has taken steps to make our CT symposium even more robust by offering the option for attendees to customize their program schedule. By dividing up each day’s schedule and highlight certain sections and talks based on what category they fall under; we hope our attendees can make sure to attend the most important talks to them. We divided the whole meeting up into the following categories:
Faculty Spotlight: Dushyant V. Sahani, M.D.
This week, we had the opportunity to interview Dr. Dushyant V. Sahani, who is Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, and Director of Computed Tomography at Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston, Massachusetts. He will be leading our Computed Tomography course, Dual Energy CT Pre-Conference Workshop. Dr. Sahani has been involved with the ISCT computed tomography meeting since 2007, and we are excited and fortunate in having him play a major role at our meeting.
Hot Topics for Technologists in CT with Stanford HealthCare’s Lior Molvin, BA RT (CT)
The ISCT is proud to be partnering with Stanford Healthcare to offer a pre-conference lecture-based workshop designed specifically to discuss hot topics for computed tomography technologists. The workshop will be held prior to the start of the ISCT’s Main CT Symposium on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
This hands-on workshop will give technologists the opportunity to collaborate with some of radiology’s most innovative leaders to discuss image quality standards, the fundamentals of iterative reconstruction technologists and dual energy CT.
ISCT Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Jenny Hoang, MBBS
The ISCT is privileged to have an extensive faculty of imaging experts who have helped us to establish our meetings as one of the most innovative computed tomography meetings in the world. One such member of our faculty, who will be bringing a lot to the table this year is Dr. Jenny Hoang. We sat down with Dr. Hoang to discuss how she came to be involved with the ISCT and what she believes makes ISCT’s CT symposium so unique. We also explored the talks she will be leading this year and learned more about how she became involved with radiology.
13 Things to Do in San Francisco (Other than ISCT’s CT Symposium)
San Francisco has a lot to offer people with all different tastes. When you come to ISCT’s 18th Annual CT Symposium, be sure to add a few extra days to your trip so you can explore all that San Francisco has to offer. We’ve broken down some of the best places to go and things to do, to make everyone in your group happy.
Lessons from ISCT’s Dual Energy CT Workshop Programs
Every year, the faculty of the ISCT work to improve our CT symposium to increase the value for all of our attendees. In our 18 years, we’ve set the bar for how cutting-edge computed tomography programs should run and are constantly finding ways to raise that bar. This year is no different, as we’ll be offering the most advanced Dual Energy CT Workshop available as a pre-conference session.
The Dual Energy CT workshop sessions will serve as a unique feature of the 18th Annual ISCT meeting. The full day program will be led by Dr. Dushyant Sahani who is the director of Computed Tomography at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School’s Division of Abdominal Imaging. His contribution to over 230 publications related to CT education and imaging, lends to his extensive knowledge of this topic and ISCT attendees will have the opportunity to work with him directly in a close-knit workshop setting.
