Jared Christensen, MD

Jared D. Christensen, M.D. is Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging and Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program at Duke University Medical Center.  After graduation from the University of Virginia, he received his medical doctorate from the University of Vermont College of Medicine with subsequent training in general surgery at the University of Virginia, diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Rochester, and a cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Christensen’s clinical and research interests include lung cancer imaging, cardiac MRI, and image-guided thoracic interventions.  He is a nationally-recognized educator and currently serves as Chair of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Cardiac Educational Exhibits and is a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Lung-RADS Committee. He has additional committee appointments with the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR), and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).

Dr. Christensen is supported in his academic pursuits by his wife, Elizabeth, and their eight children. They enjoy traveling, playing, and working together as a family.
