Jared Christensen, MD

Dr. Jared Christensen is a native of Washington DC but has lived throughout the country as his father served in the US Navy.  He originally studied architecture at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA); however, following two years of missionary service in Santiago, Chile, he decided to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Christensen received his medical doctorate from the University of Vermont College of Medicine (Burlington, VT) with subsequent training in general surgery at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA), diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY), and a cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center (Durham, NC).  Upon completion of his fellowship training, Dr. Christensen joined the Duke Department of Radiology as faculty. 

Dr. Christensen currently serves as Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Radiology at Duke University Medical Center and Director of the Duke Lung Cancer Screening Program.  Dr. Christensen’s clinical and research interests include lung cancer imaging, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and CT-guided thoracic interventions.  Dr. Christensen is also a nationally-recognized educator with committee appointments for the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR), and the American College of Radiology (ACR).!!In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Christensen enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their seven children traveling, playing, and working together as a family.
