It’s been a big year for ISCT faculty. From the Minnies to department recognitions, we’ve been lucky enough to see several of our faculty members recognized for their incredible career contributions to the radiology world in 2016. Although the year is almost over, the awards just keep on coming!

This week we were thrilled to see that Dr. Elliot Fishman was selected as the recipient of Diagnostic Imaging’s Radiology Lifetime Achievement Award. Although it’s not uncommon to see peers recognized by various awards throughout the year, this one is special because it’s indicative of the enthusiasm, innovation, and excellence that Dr. Fishman has contributed to his work in radiology not just in one particular area or at one particular moment in time, but over the span of his extensive career.

It’s that time of the year again, the one we’ve spent months anticipating, and we’re excited to announce that registration for our 2017 CT symposium is officially open! Traditionally our symposium has been designed with the following goals in mind:

For a radiology department to be successful and provide positive patient experiences, the entire team has to come together as one. The same can be said about advancing your computed tomography team’s knowledge-base. Staying up to date with cutting-edge CT technology and techniques is a challenge, but if your whole team works together, each member can improve and the team as a whole will evolve into a stronger, more robust organization.

Medical imaging is one of the most exciting and progressive disciplines in healthcare, and it’s one that affects each and every one of us. Every year hundreds of millions of imaging procedures are performed in the US alone. From CT’s to MRI’s to x-rays and ultrasounds, there probably isn’t one of us who hasn’t yet or won’t at some point in their future come into contact with medical imaging technology. While most people are familiar with the various medical imaging technologies available, though, the exact purpose and value of these services isn’t widely understood. That’s where the International Day Of Radiology comes in.

We are exactly 8 months away from ISCT 2017! It feels like just yesterday that we were wrapping up this year’s symposium, and we’re already counting down the days until our next one.

ISCT16 was one of our best conferences yet, and as we start to gear up for next year’s conference we’d love to spend some time highlighting our favorite parts from the ISCT 2016 conference. That’s why, starting on Monday and continuing for the next few months, we’ll be sharing lots of incredible video footage from this year’s symposium.

It’s not only a great way to relive some of our favorite ISCT16 memories, it’ll also get all of us excited as we start thinking about next year’s conference and the awesome new topics we’ll be revealing! Here’s some of the video content you can expect to see over the next few weeks:

This week the moment we'd all been waiting for finally happened! After months of waiting, the winners of the 2016 Minnies were finally announced by Aunt Minnie! The Minnies have been going strong for 16 years, and are one of the greatest ways to recognize the best and brightest in the radiology industry. This year's list on nominees was incredible, and it's amazing to see just how many men and women there are out there dedicated their lives towards bettering our industry and the healthcare world as a whole. 

Today we congratulate two faculty members who were awarded these prestigious honors.

Have you ever looked back at the decade of your life and thought about how different things were just ten, short years ago? Sometimes the difference even a year can make can be startling, but just imagine all the advancements that can be made in a year within the medical technology community. We always say, “One year in real life, is like 10 years in CT time.”

For now, let’s take a trip down memory lane and explore how CT has changed over the last 50 years.
